Abies lasiocarpa 'Compacta'
A dwarf variety with a regular, dense, conical crown. It grows to about 1 meter in 10 years. It has very thick branches. There are always three buds and they are yellow-brown in color. The needles have a very beautiful, silver-grey tone. They are 15-25 mm long and 1-1.5 mm wide. Two bright white stripes on the bottom. The variety has been known since 1927.
Cultivation and use: Prefers light, sandy, acidic garden soil. It likes sunny and semi-shaded places. It withstands frosts down to minus 30 degrees. It is an ideal plant for rock gardens, heather gardens and other small gardens.
