Chamaecyparis lawsoniana Columnaris is one of the best vertical blue Lawson's - a striking medium-sized evergreen conifer . It has fragrant bluish-grey leaves that are particularly vibrant in summer and provide a wonderful feature in the winter garden. Lawson's Cypress Columnaris is columnar and narrow in shape, making it an ideal choice as an attractive hedge or spectacular specimen tree.
Columnaris, also known as false cypress, is a hardy tree that grows well in both full sun and partial shade. It tolerates all soil types, preferring slightly acidic, well-drained conditions - it does not like waterlogged soil. This beautiful coniferous tree is suitable for both open and sheltered places.

Description
A diverse, evergreen conifer, from which hundreds of varieties have been named. The leaves of the natural form are tuja or cypress-like. The foliage of the cultivars can be scaly or needle-like and have many shades of color.

Penumbral–shadow. Humus-rich, nutrient-rich growing medium that stays fresh. Requires protection from wind and spring sun.

Zones I (II). It is easily damaged in cold winters.
