Picea pungens "Glauca Globosa"
Dutch variety, obtained from Kluysa nurseries in 1937. Dwarf shrub, dense, flat, irregular hemisphere in shape. Stems rather stiff, dense structure, annual growth up to 8 cm, older specimens grow up to 1.5 m high. The needles are short, about 1 cm long, silver-blue.
Available in low and high grafted versions.
The silver fir 'Glauca Globosa' grows into a small, flat-round or conical tree about a meter tall. Its needles are blue-grey. The best place to grow silver fir is in a sunny spot, because in too much shade it turns green and drops needles. It tolerates drought, but thrives best in slightly fresh, loose soil. Planting interval: 1 m.
Height/Width 1.5-2/1-2m. When I was younger, a fun, silvery, bushy and dense "BALL". If desired, the crown can also be grown. Rewards tens of years of cultivation by being the eye-catcher of the yard. Growth rate 5-7cm/year. Ouch. Zone 1-5
Blue spruce (Picea pungens) grows naturally in the Southern Rocky Mountains of North America, where it thrives in sunny mountain forests even in dry places. Being deep-rooted, it is also not afraid of a strong wind. The October fir does well in gardens and parks as long as it gets the ample sunlight it needs. In too much shade, the vegetation will easily rot. A large number of varieties with unusual growth habit and coloration have been bred from the oak tree. Its needles are silver gray and sturdy. A place with medium or high nutrients and mixed with sand.
