Fagus sylvatica 'Atropurpurea' (Red Beech)
A variety also called 'Atropunicea' - a red-leaved variety. It grows into tall trees with a broad, spherical crown. The young leaves are dark purple, almost black-purple as they develop in spring, then dark brown in summer. The color intensity of the leaves varies greatly, as this variety is often propagated from seed. The red-leaved beech variety has been known for several hundred years and is widely distributed in parks. It is one of the most valuable purple leaf varieties on our trees. The variety should be increased by grafting darker colored individuals
Purpose: one of our most valuable purple-leaved trees, mainly suitable for planting in parks and large gardens due to the species' fast growth rate. It can be used for trimmed and shaped hedges , park lines and home gardens.
