Pinus genus
is the world's largest group of conifers, one hundred and thirteen species, all evergreen trees or shrubs. It is almost entirely a northern hemisphere genus. There are no fossils in the southern hemisphere, and only one species crosses the equator in northern Sumatra. Pinus species have attractive bark, develop irregular outlines with age, and bear long needle-like leaves in clusters of two, three, or five. visible cones may fall or remain on the tree for years.
Soil: Normal, heavy clay, light sand, chalk, clay.

Leaf color: Dark green needles.
Special features: The bark on young stems has an attractive coppery reddish color that changes to a more subtle grayish brown as it matures. This variety produces an abundance of eye-catching white buds.
