Picea Pungens "Blue Mountain" - Blue spruce

Although Colorado spruce originates from the Rocky Mountains of Canada and the USA, it has been widely cultivated in Europe and its cold regions. In the Czech Republic, it has been a common gem in front yards and small gardens for decades, especially its blue forms. Blue ones there are quite a lot of firs . Blue Mountain is one of them. It is a selection with bright silver blue needles. They are quite spiky, evergreen and cover the branches densely. It grows about 15-25 cm per year, while young, older trees grow a little faster. It is well branched at the base and forms a neat and regular pyramid shape without significant pruning. However, pruning is possible - best in early spring. Spruce adapts to a wide range of soils if the soil is well drained. It likes neutral to slightly acidic soil and full sun. Fertilization is not necessary. Fully resistant to about -40°C (USDA zone 3).
