'Bruns' is slow growing, narrow upright and flat. With two-color cones.
Picea Omorika (Serbian spruce) and Oriental spruce (Picea orientalis) are lesser known spruce relatives.
Richard L. Bitner "Conifers for Gardens" lists orientalis and omorika species as superior to their European cousins. Michael Dirr's "Manual of Woody Landscape Plants" praises it as both thriving in Louisville and superior to other midwestern spruces.
Serbian spruce is a limestone and pollution tolerant conifer with a graceful, narrow pyramidal habit, making it a good choice for an evergreen city or street tree. P. Omorika is also known for its short drooping branches with upward-curving tips and shiny needles.
