Wig bush 'Purple' PBR

There are few ornamental shrubs in our gardens as beautiful and original as wig trees

Podolia wig tree is a shrub that cannot be ignored. Its oval leaves distinguish it from other plants. The most interesting thing about this plant is its characteristic paniculate flowers. The flowers are small, but form flowers up to 25 centimeters long and resemble a wig, from which the plant gets its name. After flowering, interesting yellow fruit heads appear, which remain on the bush for quite a long time.

Lilac is a slow-growing, compact shrub with purple leaves and fluffy, showy fruit heads. It grows 1.2-1.5 m tall. This is a dwarf version of the 'Royal Purple' variety. The shape of the bushes is rounded. The shoots are rather short, the leaves are single, whole, oval, purple, sometimes pink. In autumn, the leaves turn red, orange and yellow. The bushes bloom in June, producing small, tiny flowers collected in loose, paniculate inflorescences. In July, the stems of the sterile flowers grow intensively and become feathery, creating characteristic fluffy purple wigs.

The wig tree is an excellent plant for planting in parks, urban green areas and lawns. The plant is quite resistant to environmental pollution. It looks best planted singly or in loose groups.

STANDARD

We buy the plants in a container, so we can plant them throughout the season. As long as we provide them with good growing conditions, caring for them is not difficult, and growing them can bring a lot of satisfaction and joy.

Podolia wig trees are not particularly demanding plants, they should be given a lot of sun. Wig trees are very light-loving plants. In shady places, they bloom poorly and their leaves are not as intensely colored.

They prefer dry, permeable soils that are not rich in nutrients, but thrive in other types of soil as well.

A young bush should be pruned so that it gets a beautiful shape at an older age. Subsequent treatments are limited to cutting dry or damaged branches only.

The plant is completely frost-resistant.
