Pinus nigra 'Oregon Green'
A very attractive black pine variety with medium growth and a well-proportioned, symmetrical, conical shape. In 10 years, it grows to about 3 m high and 2 m wide. It produces a conductor, and side branches grow in even, regular whorls. The needles are dark green, stiff and strong, closely spaced on the shoot and clearly directed towards its tops, which further emphasizes the harmonious placement of the branches.
It looks best as a solitary plant, recommended primarily for exposed locations. Suitable for larger gardens, parks and as part of a residential area or city green areas. It can withstand low temperatures, occasional drought and urban conditions, and can grow successfully in almost any average garden soil. Requires a sunny place.
The variety has been known since the mid-1990s and was acquired and marketed by Van Meter & Son Nursery Boring (Oregon, USA). In 2010, he was awarded a silver medal at the "GREEN IS LIFE" exhibition in Warsaw.
