Pinus heldreichii
It grows in the Balkans, Albania, the former Yugoslavia and northwestern Greece and Bulgaria, reaching a height of 15-20 meters. A slow-growing tree with a dense, wide, conical crown. Needles gathered in bundles of 2, densely on the shoots, stiff, prickly, dark green and shiny, 6-8 cm long. Cones are egg-shaped, 6-8 cm long, very dark. Annual growth approx. 15 cm, reaches approx. 10 m. Sunny location. Soil and moisture requirements are low. Withstands low temperatures. A species with a dense, dense root system that allows relatively older plants to be transplanted.
Application: an original, very comfortable pine species that perfectly copes with our climatic conditions, a recommended plant for gardens and conifer compositions.
