Also called sugar-top spruce, a very dense and slow-growing dwarf form of white spruce. 'Conica' is very common in yards in southern Finland, although it often suffers from spring blight, especially in sunny places. Even old plants should be shaded in spring and winter, because the browned spots will slowly be covered by new shoots if the buds are not completely dry.
Size: 1–2 meters high and wide.
Growing method: A small coniferous tree or shrub with a smooth cone shape.
Needles: Light green, very thin and only a centimeter long. 'Alberta Blue', 'Blue Wonder' and 'Sander's Blue' are light blue cone-shaped white firs.
Place of growth: Sun–partial shade; growing medium dry–fresh, medium nutrient.
Zones: I–III.
